Witnessing the extreme poverty and suffering of orphaned children in Tanzania deeply strengthened our commitment. We saw firsthand the threats they face—from hunger and neglect to the dangers of human trafficking. This heartbreaking reality reaffirmed our mission: to protect, nourish, and uplift these children.
Our journey began with a call for compassion. In February 2017, Sister Rut Ciesielska—a Polish missionary and founder of the Congregation of the Good Samaritan Sisters in Tanzania—reached out to us for support. She had already begun building an orphanage in Bukanga, Musoma, to care for homeless children and invited us to witness her mission firsthand.
During our visit, Bishop Michael Msonganzila of Musoma welcomed us and formally requested our support for Sister Rut’s vision. With his blessing and all necessary documentation, we joined the effort to develop the Samaritan Center, a place of refuge and hope for the most vulnerable.
Good Samaritan Center is a self-sustainable community which comprises of an orphanage building housing 100 children, a hospital for the local community, a Chapel and a convent for the Good Samaritan Sisters. We also provided funding to establish working farm with animals and a deep water well.
Thanks to this united effort of local community, religious organizations and funding from Good Samaritans and other charitable organizations we were able to construct:
The community played an essential role throughout construction. Local residents—both men and women—assisted with labor, transported materials, prepared the land.
Local craftsmen and volunteers produced concrete blocks used for construction, and poured and set the concrete foundations on which every building now stands. This shared effort fostered a deep sense of ownership, unity, and pride within the community. The people felt directly connected to the future of the children and families the center would serve. Their contribution is woven into every wall, every pathway, and every smile now seen on this once-empty land transformed into a place of safety, healing, and opportunity.
