The Need & Community Challenges

Families in Xoxocotla face challenges that threaten their education, safety, and future:

Catechism and youth classes held in damaged buildings or under the sun
High rates of poverty and school dropout
Youth exposed to violence, drugs, and unsafe streets
Adults lacking opportunities for literacy or formation
A community still emotionally and physically affected by the earthquake

A safe, dignified space is essential for rebuilding lives and strengthening faith.

What We Built & How It Works

In the heart of Xoxocotla, Morelos — a region marked by poverty, violence, and the destruction caused by the 2017 earthquake — a new source of hope is rising. Through a partnership between the Good Samaritans Foundation and the Salvatorian Missionaries, a two‑story Parish and Community Center is being rebuilt next to the Church San Felipe Apóstol y San José Obrero.

This center will serve more than 1,000 children and 350 adults, providing a safe and welcoming place for learning, prayer, and community life.

6 classrooms for education, catechism, art, and youth programs
A multipurpose hall for meetings, workshops, and gatherings
Evening programs for adults (literacy, faith formation, life skills)
Music, art, and cultural activities to keep young people safe and engaged
Reconstruction and expansion of the damaged two story parish building

Local Community Involvement

This community center is being built hand‑in‑hand with the people of Xoxocotla. Every Sunday after Mass, families prepare and sell homemade meals to raise funds for construction. Local teachers and workers are hired, strengthening the town’s economy, while parishioners generously volunteer their time and labor. Guided by the Salvatorian Fathers and Brothers, the mission continues to grow in faith and purpose. Together, their unity, dedication, and sacrifice make this center a true symbol of faith in action.
